Built in 1949 by Electro-Motive Division, General Motors Corporation. This 2-unit transfer locomotive is rated at 2000 horse power. Each of two Diesel engines drives an electric generator which produces 1000 horse power at full load speed, 800 r.p.m. Traction motors are geared to 40-inch driving wheels. This locomotive is used for heavy switching and transfer service.
